Alienvault 2.3 release notes: If you plan to implement the 2.3 Installer without an Internet connection, you can do this by using the "Unattended" option in the installer (it may pause for up to 15 minutes while the system check for an Internet connection) or the "Custom" option which will ask you at the end of the installation if you want to connect to the Internet to update the system. To update to 2.3 version from the console, begin with the following steps: apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade The system will inform you that some packages cannot be authenticated. Do not worry about that, just enter "y" to continue. Answer "y" to all the questions you are asked, all the appropriate files will be updated with the package files. Once that you've installed the system you will likely need to upgrade the ossim-agent. On your AlienVault Sensors or in the all-in-one profile for single-system installations run the following command to determine your current version level.: dpkg -l |grep ossim-agent If the version is < 2.3 you will need to run the following command: apt-get install ossim-agent This command updates the OpenVAS scanner to the latest version and also the ossim-agent. Please check your versions. The following is a list of some of the new functionality delivered with version 2.3: * Customized views in the SIEM analyzer * HTML display report fixed * Nessus 4 and OpenVAS 2/3 support * Remote distributed scanning using nmap * Capability to stop remote scannings * Multiple visualization and usage improvements * Extensive new built in reports * Advanced Reporting Wizard * Performance optimization in Tickets, Alarms (using session cache and new indexes) * Improved policy definitions * HTTPS enabled by default Please contact AlienVault of your AlienVault partner for technical assistance with this upgrade or for information on any AlienVault offering.
