Trial Activation Error

Description

I entered my email address on the Trial Activation page but I'm getting an error "Impossible to connect to server". How can I resolve this?

Solution

This happens when the USM Appliance virtual machine is unable to access the Internet. Here are a few things to check:

Ensure that the USM Appliance virtual machine has a unique IP address (IP address conflicts will create intermittent connectivity issues).

Log in to the USM Appliance virtual machine console and use the 'ping' command to verify that the server can communicate with the Internet. For example, try "ping www.google.com". If you get an unknown host error, run the "alienvault-setup" utility and confirm that the DNS server is set correctly.

Verify that http traffic from the USM Appliance virtual machine is permitted through your firewall. See Firewall Permissions for more details.
