Known Issue: Cannot Disable or Enable User With "." in the Username

Reported Version: 5.2
Deployment: All deployments
AlienVault Ticket ID ENG-102574

In AlienVault USM Appliance, users created with a username that contains “.” cannot be disabled or enabled by clicking the green tick, or red X.

In the user configuration dialog /ossim/session/users.php, it is possible to enable or disable a user by clicking on the icon in the 'Status' column. However, this does not work when a user has the '.' (dot) character in their username. The POST request to the backend does not get sent when the icon is clicked for a username containing a dot character. As we use a firstname.lastname naming convention for user accounts this is an issue in our configuration.

As a workaround we recommend replacing “.” with “-" when creating new users. For existing users with “.” in the username that you wish to disable we recommend deleting the user instead, and when you want to re-enable the user re-create it with a “-“ instead of a “.”

Should you not want to delete users for any reason we recommend instead changing the password to a long random password to temporarily prevent access to the account.
