Many industry and regulatory requirements for sensitive data require monitoring to detect the attachment of an external device to the USB drive. But it’s not only about regulation; the majority of hardware breaches involve the use of USB drives to exfiltrate data – bypassing perimeter controls. With AlienVault USM it’s east to detect and be notified whenever a USB device is attached to a host. If we look under the SIEM events we can see events relating to USB devices being connected. Clicking on an event will give us more details such as the time, host, any device information as well as the raw logs. Armed with knowledge of these events, we can take the appropriate action to prevent an incident occurring.

And that’s all it takes to identify where USB devices are being used in your environment with AlienVault USM. With USM you can achieve security visibility in minutes, not months. Accelerate and simplify your threat detection with AlienVault Unified Security Management today.
